As per
Vastu shastra, the kitchen has a big impact on our wealth. As a place of food
preparation, no doubt it has big impact to our health too. If we stay healthy,
we can accomplish many things and remain successful and happy. When everything
is in harmony, food will taste better, be easier to digest, and healthier as
well.
This
vital balance of energy, applies to everything in your environment, including
the food with which you nourish your body. There are easy to follow rules of
Vastu shastra that one can easily incorporate.
- As per Vastu shastra, it is recommended to create the Kitchen at the (a) South-East (Agnisthaan) or (b) South of South-East zone (Agnisthaan) or (c) North-West zone. If the Kitchen is not at these zones, then at least light a Zero Watt or 15 Watt Red Bulb at the South East or South of South-East zone. Face the East direction while cooking.
- Food preparation in a windowless space discourages you from cooking. The kitchen should have a link with the outdoors, with nature, as this brings creative cooking energies. Keep live plants, especially herbs in the kitchen window. They are great for cooking and represent positive health energy, while making you feel good. Positive energy will also flow more freely throughout the entire kitchen.
- Kitchen is the heart of a home and so it should be warm and welcoming. Keep drawers and cabinets organized all the time. Hiding clutter is not a solution; so take the time to organize and neatly arrange your kitchen items in every drawer and cupboard. The knowledge that all is in perfect order will affect your mindset; encouraging a feeling of tranquility and well being.
- The food we eat deserves to be prepared in a fresh and clean environment which will help you live healthier. Keep only essential appliances and items that are used daily on the counter such as a tea pot, toaster, salt, etc. Put the rest of the things into drawers and cupboards including knives, spoons and the stacks of small containers that regularly seem to accumulate in a kitchen.
- Storing old, stale or expired food energetically holds you in the past and drains you of the vital energy that is needed to live an inspired life. It is advisable to keep the contents of your refrigerator current and create the energy to welcome the right opportunities in life.
- The color scheme in the kitchen should be of light color ranges like pista green, lemon yellow, light ivory and pink. It is bad to use darker colors like black, grey and maroon for the kitchen, hence avoid black granite or blue / black / grey tiles. Also a strong red is not comfortable for it.
